A job in speech language pathology will typically command a six figure salary. Analysis of of salary ranges shown within SLP job postings suggests that, nationally, median advertised salaries for speech language pathologists are at $100,00 up about 1.6% from a year ago.
Salaries for SLPs appear to have softened in the last few months, not suggesting that pay is actually decreasing, rather there could be more demand for SLPs with less experience (and thus, lower wages offered by employers). It may also indicate shifts in demand to parts of the country where wages are generally lower.
The master's in SLP programs with graduates that have the highest earnings are heavily concentrated in California, across the Cal State University system. While this is a sign of how these programs prepair their students for success, it is also a sign of higher salaries in the state of California compared to other geographies.
Salary Ranges
Most commonly we are seeing salary ranges posted by hourly earnings with $50 an hour being a common mid point which aligns closely with a $100k annual salary assuming a regular work hours. Some postings were suggesting hourly pay as high as $80 an hour for candidates with more experience.
